Christmas Time

What does Christmas time make YOU think of??

It makes me think of a million things.

This year I thought more about it's original meaning, which made me feel so much more grateful and giving than ever before.... it's a wonderful feeling! I learned more about Jesus' birth, and I am so glad! Our church played this yesterday evening (Christmas Eve) and ya know... it works. It's educational, funny, adorable... and true.
But after it all is said and done... (this evening as I sit on the edge of my bed, in my apartment alone with just my kitties...) I feel a strange loneliness type feeling. It's nothing like anything I've felt before. It started while I was shoveling the sidewalk actually haha. The snow was falling quietly and calmly and the roads were silent and the Christmas lights were glowing all around. The fact that I was able to appreciate thos calm and relaxing moments, made me feel grateful for the person who taught me... And I suddenly had this feeling in the pit of my stomach... and I'v carried it with me for the past hour and a half now.
I don't mean to seem any kind of ungrateful, God has truly blessed me. I have Jesus in my heart, wonderful friends, a very loving family (both here, at church, and distant as well.) I have a roof over my head, food in my cupboards, a job, my son....  but... there is still something missing.
I no longer like to ask the question "Why," because I know in my heart that God has a plan and I don't want to question it.... but I am still learning and adjusting my ways and what not. So there are still some habits left to rid myself of. So I do catch myself asking "Why" on occasion... Like tonight. I find myself asking "Why do I feel this way? And why does the heart hold onto things that it knows will never be anything more than what it always has been?!!" Jerk.... yea I'm calling my heart a jerk. It just makes no sense sometimes.
You ever look at someone you've known for a long time and suddenly your heart is saying "HEY! HEY YOU... YOU THERE!! HELLOOOOO!!!! What the HECK is WRONG with you.... You know... There was a time when you'd listen to me... and if you had just listened to me in the beginning than none of this would have happened! Go for it! I promise, if you just let ME lead you, you won't get hurt... I promise!"  .... Ever had that happen? No? Just me, huh? Figures. Stupid heart. I don't know why it thinks it's smarter than me (My Brain.) aww crap I just had a ummm.... I forgot the word at the moment. But I had one of those moments where I asked a serious question out of frustration that I have been asking for a long time and POOF.... I had the answer. No, it wasn't the question I had just typed here. I said to myself, "Why would you say that your brain is in control when this past year, you have done so much more with your heart leading than ever before in your life?" .... Figures. I'm having an entire arguement with myself and I'm sharing it all with you.... whoever you are out there. You ever feel like you walked into something you shouldn't have?? **whispers--> ruuuuuun..... **
     **Sigh.
I miss things. And none of this will make sense to you out there. But that's ok. This is my vent. I miss the melting... the smiling eyes, the softness, the warmth, the comfort, the laughter... I went shopping by myself and it was like... I never forgot.... it was just... I hadn't thought about that much in a long time and I was afraid I would have trouble but I didn't. It was like... shopping for the person I know best. I miss that/ I miss being around that one person who knows me, my ins and outs, my likes, my dislikes... even all the things I never thought they knew or noticed.... in case you can't tell I'm talking about a relationship I miss.
But it's so confusing. I don't know if maybe it's just me feeling sad for him, or worried for him, or what. Some things will never change. Never die. Never go away. But other things have changed. Like the fact that I am so happy with who I have become, I refuse to give it up! I refuse to let go of who I am now and what I have in my heart. My relationship with God is more important than any other! I will not let that go! If He wants me with someone, He will bring us together.
Otherwise, I won't be trying to be with anyone. I don't need to. But God knows my heart better than I do myself. He knows how I feel, He knows that I miss my best friend. And that I worry for him. I pray that he finds what he needs, which I believe to be God and a good church family like what God has given to me. I pray that he allows Jesus into his heart and he lets it consume him and work in him the way He has in my heart. I pray this happens sooner than later. I pray God gives me the strength to help him any way I can. I pray that God guides my tongue and uses me to bring him closer to Him.
God knows us each, better than we know ourselves. I have no doubt about this. I thank you Father, for all you have given me, for all you have blessed your children with. I thank you for loving me, even though I will be forever undeserving of your love. Thank you for sending your son to us. Thank you Jesus, for being faithful to us and loving us. In your Heavenly name, I pray, Amen.

Merry Christmas

I BELIEVE

I... am a Woman of Faith.
I have convictions and beliefs and love that will Not be taken from me and I will never give away or give up.

Many may not understand what I feel <unfortunately> but none the less - I FEEL IT! Those who have known me since BEFORE my walk with God began, can vouch for the fact that OBVIOUSLY something changed in me! Drastically! and VERY quickly! I may not be able to explain it all yet, and I may never be able to explain it, but I can tell you this...
I found a love I never knew I could feel. I never thought a love like this existed. I never thought I could feel so free with the amount of anxieties and issues I had. I never thought I would be so happy. I know Jesus died on the cross for our sins. I believe it with all of my heart. I know God loves us and forgives us and accepts us as we are... broken... empty... alone... angry... And He MENDS our broken hearts and broken bodies. And He FILLS our empty souls! And He COMFORTS us through everything and loves us just as we are! And He CALMS our anger and SOOTHS our souls... and SHOWS us that HE IS OUR FATHER!
I BELIEVE these things with ALL of my heart! I am a new woman! Every day I struggle ,of course! It's not supposed to be easy! God didn't give us an Easy Button like Staples has! Although.... haha. No. He provides us with His promises, love, and open arms! That is all we need when we are struggling... right? someone to make us feel safe and believe...? Right? That's all I have EVER needed... and never found until I found Jesus. Sure, I felt safe in my dad's arms... but.... Not WHOLE. Not ENTIRELY 100% safe from danger. With Jesus... THAT is how I feel! He is my Savior! No one on the face of this planet could EVER love me more than He, or even come close.
I feel alive! THANK YOU JESUS! I feel amazing! I pray that I am able to help another find this same joy. If God has me do anything at all... I pray that my testimony and my faith brings at LEAST one other person to Him. If that happens, I would be ready to go at any point. Until then I'm gonna hold on to EVERYTHING lol. just kiddin. I know God has a plan for me and I finally understand that no matter how small my life may seem in the big picture... without it... the big picture isn't complete.... EACH of us... we ALL have a purpose. A REASON FOR BEING HERE! All of us. I feel it. And I am going to continue to let God guide me in whatever direction He has planned out.

God Bless

This is MY Blog...

I feel kind of like... a child at the moment... and not in a good way. There is no reason I should listen and obey anyone... I am my own person! You don't tell me what to do!
You aren't my boss giving me a paycheck!
You are not God and could never be!
You are not my father!
I am an adult and have no one to answer to besides GOD!
You are nothing... nothing to me... at all...
Why should I do anything out of respect for you... Why should I show any kind of respect in your general direction...
I can say what I wish, about who I wish, whenever I wish.
If it is slander, take me to court.
I make it very clear that I don't have a right to judge, and that I am praying for God to remove that from my mind and my heart. I don't want to be judgmental. I don't want to feel hatred towards anyone. But I am human. I am not perfect. And God understands this. And He still loves me and forgives me. He knows my heart, better than I do myself.

This is my blog.

These are MY thoughts. About ANYTHING and EVERYTHING.

I may get upset, excited, sad, depressed, WHATEVER and write about it.
WHO KNOWS... WHO CARES.... If You don't like it, don't read it.

Challenge Complete

10 days of strict eating (yes I cheated a little), 6 days of a horrible sludgy fiber drink in the AM, 7 nights of horse pills, 7 mornings of tiny capsules, plus all the spark I drank (replaces coffee and soda), all the walking and biking.... I won the 10 day cleanse challenge against 7 other people! (I think it was 7, may have been 8.) I lost 2" off my thighs, I can see and feel a change on my backside as well haha, and I can see a difference in my face but my stomach, not so much. My stomach has a lot of work to go yet though. I need to do more for that area, and eating healthier and smaller meals really isn't going to do much for it for some reason... just need to put extra work into it is all.
Thank you to my big brother for motivating me, caring about my health and worrying about me enough to provide me with the opportunity to try this out, also for providing me with a menu plan and the food for the menu. I couldn't have done it without any of it. I am super excited to continue my journey down this road. I am going to expand my menu a little bit because I really love my Special K cereal's, but those are healthy, so no worries haha. I'm sure I will have other things as well, but nothing like what I was doing before!!
I am really enjoying my walking, I walk to Christina's in the mornings, and I am going to continue that until it is too cold to do so. I won't have a car anyhow, so it'll be easy to do haha. I will be walking to church on Sunday's plus Wednesday evenings for youth group. I need to find a partner for evening walking, maybe some afternoon walking as well. Hopefully Michelle will be up for it soon. Maybe I can get Christina to take some walks with me. I know how much exercise helps with depression, I just have to motivate her. I know it would help her sleep at night also.
I pray I come up with the money SOON in order to purchase more products from AdvoCare to keep going in THAT direction. I mean, yes there is plenty I can do at home and on my own. BUT-- with having quit smoking there are some products that will help me keep going. They will also help me continue to boost my system in the right direction. In 3 months I am going to try another cleanse, but I don't know if I want to try the 24 day or just do the 10 day... we shall see.

Advocare 10 Day Cleanse

Well... my brother put me on this herbal cleanse, actually it's a challenge on top of the cleanse... who loses the most body mass whatever whatever I don't know all the technical jargon. I feel funny. Today is DAY 3 -- my meals are light and small and I've been getting on my exercise bike for 20 minutes 3 times a day... I feel good but my body feels funny. I plan to stick close to this meal plan after the cleanse is over, I'm going to ad milk though because I love my Special K cereal!! On the cleanse I cannot have any dairy products... I don't mind, because I know I can have my cereal after the challenge is over lol.
So my breakfast is a meal replacement shake. My lunches consist of half a cup of fruit and a hard boiled egg, OR 2 hard boiled eggs, OR a can of plain tuna in water. dinners consist of a piece of boneless skinless chicken breast and a 1/2 a steam fresh bag of veggies OR a cup of brown rice OR OR a piece of fish with the same options. I'm enjoying it so far. I couldn't continue this every single day after the cleanse because I would get bored. But I have been researching recipes to keep the simple items and give them a little extra flavor but not add all the sugars or salts or extra unhealthy crap -- VERY EXCITED!!
Also, I am really enjoying these Spark drinks -- equivalent to a cup of coffee!! TASTE AWESOME!! I have had the fruit punch and the citrus. It is an 8 ounce cup of water with the powder mix and boom, I'm wired for like 5 or 6 hours!! I'm planning on getting a tub of it when this one runs out. They really have some awesome products!! I can't wait to see the results from this cleanse and then continue with this new menu plan and work out!
I am still working on quitting smoking, but I only had 2 yesterday and none today, and I haven't gone and bought a new pack either. I am trying to stay busy so I just forget about the cravings all together. It's really only boredom that gets me smoking, so I am working on filling all of my time. I started a new book, this one is about youth ministry since I started helping with the youth group at church. Hopefully this book will guide me and give me some good direction with these kids. I am still doing my 30 days of prayer thing, and I am going to continue until I have it memorized (that's the plan anyway.) I am just so excited!
God is really working in my heart! I am expanding my horizons! I want to bring others to Christ! I want to bring young teens and children to Christ! I want EVERYONE to come to Christ!!!  ---it is super hard to contain the excitement and NOT shout out seeing as how I am at my dad's and I don't want to disturb anyone lol.

I love my dads new house! I have been helping him get it organized and get ready for an estate sale (the items left with the house when he bought it.) Today I stained and clear coated the trim for his living room, in another hour I am going to be doing the final coat of that. I have no clue what he is going to have me do tomorrow, but I'm sure it'll be fun! The other day we hauled a bunch of wood out to the back to burn, then I helped him clean out his little gardener's shed so he could store the wood he is able to burn inSIDE the house, in there. We made a little space in the basement, but not a whole lot.
Plus, he gave me a BUNCH of National Geographic's... I am obsessed with it! I love reading those! I will never get bored NOW!! wanna know WHY>>>>>>>> Now I have 1984 through 2000!!! Plus I have been getting them since 2011. AWESOME!!! I cannot wait til I have a house or a place of my own where I am able to fill all my book shelves!! It'd be nice to collect every single issue EVER, but I won't hold my breath on that one haha. I am very happy with what I have. I still have a TON of other books I need to read. I plan to read all the novels and then sell them... well... besides my antique books and any collector books I have. I am not going to part with my National Geographic's though.

VERY EXCITED ABOUT LIFE!!

Summer With a Bunch of Boys

Friday, I had Tyler (12yrs old), Nicholas (9yrs old), Spencer (13yrs old), Tanner (8yrs old), Tynan (9yrs old), Mason (13yrs old), Donnie (11yrs old), Lincoln (6yrs old), Justin (11yrs old) in a big tent... Lincoln slept in the little one with me. We had a camp fire, made S'Mores, and played Ghosts in the Graveyard... it was awesome!
During the day though, Tyler, Nicholas, Tanner, Mason, and Tynan all traveled through the river with me. We went through the woods behind my house (we all call "The Back 40") and ran straight into the river... it was beautiful... our own little Utopia... we kept finding clams, so we named it Clamtopia... it was fun. We got into the water, and trucked our way all the way back to my house, collecting clams as we went. Then we got back into the water by the bridge (by the fire department.) Under the bridge we started finding crayfish FINALLY! So we started collecting... but didn't have enough buckets, so I only caught one at a time... they were huge! And very colorful!! The boys were trying to trap a huge carp... very amusing.
We decided to name this side of the river "Trashtopia" because there was trash everywhere you looked! Sick. People suck! We traveled down to the bridge by police station and I decided it was best to stop there because these are not my boys and the dam was just ahead. Too dangerous. No. So we turned back. We set up the tent and the other boys joined us and they all played football for a bit and what not, it was a good time. I'm glad I did it. It also kinda sucked at the same time because I didn't have another adult to enjoy it with me. Sure, Spencer and Tanners mom was there (they live downstairs) and her boyfriend was there as well... but they were NOT enjoying it. I don't know why people don't have the patience for that kinda stuff... I guess I'm just special. Anyway.
I still have to go out there and take the tents down, I was exhausted yesterday and today I am waiting for the sun to go down. I hope I get to do this again before school starts up and after Donnie's casts come off, can't next weekend though because there is too much going on and I will have the other kids (the 5 I take care of in their home,) and I couldn't do this camping thing with the younger 2 of that group (2 and 4 years old, very demanding, and very naughty.) So hopefully the following weekend... we shall see.

TV & Reality

I don't like television. It drives me nuts. BUT, there are some TV Series that I watch... but NOT on TV. haha. I know. Stupid. I watch True Blood, The Lying Game, Pretty Little Liars(PLL), Bones, Law & Order SVU, The Lost Girl, Once Upon a Time, Grimm, Hart of Dixie, Being Human, Drop Dead Diva (I've strayed off of it though because it's gotten stupid), and there are some new ones I am starting to like but haven't seen enough to know what's going on.
I get bored, go on Netflix, and find a complete series to check out... watch all the seasons available if I like it, if I don't, I move on. True Blood, I buy the season when it comes out on DVD and then sell it to my friend Tricia. The rest, I watch on Hulu or wait til the season releases on Netflix.
Recently, last weekend actually, I was house sitting for a friend who has HBO GO... I got caught up on True Blood, got bored, checked out Game of Thrones... now I'm HOOKED!! UGH! Another one!! BUT... I only got to episode 9 of the first season... so I have to spend a lot of time over there getting through 3 seasons so I can be caught up for when season 4 starts next month... oh boy. And I can't watch it while the kids are home or at least awake. SO... this is gonna be fun. I really like it though. It really helps me let go of reality. I think I found one I may possibly like more than all the others... SAAAWEEEET!
I think I may read the Game of Thrones books... maybe. It's too late to read PLL books because The show has moved too far off the books and I like the show. So I will just stick with the show. I wonder how long it will be before it gets cheesy haha. Hart of Dixie is just adorable. Cuties all over the show, funny characters, adorable. Drop Dead Diva used to be fun and funny... but now I just find it lame, my personal opinion. The Lying Game is neat, cool concept n all. Law & Order SVU is just a given. lol.
And then of course Once Upon a Time and Grimm and Being Human and The Lost Girl are all otherworldly things... I love that stuff. It just helps me escape reality. I really like what they've done with Once Upon a Time. They've taken all the Disney characters, fairy tales, all that, rolled them into one new age story... so cool. They've done a great job! Grimm is pretty much the same concept but the Grimm stories, which is equally as cool in my book. I wish the shows were less cheesy though. It's still cool. The Lost Girl is craziness, I love it, wish the show was longer than 30 minutes, but oh well, I'll take it. And Being Human, I like that one too, but it does get kinda boring for me at times.
That's the point of all these shows, right? To help one to escape... escape to another reality. That's why I like reading. But once in a while I need to strain a little less so I'll watch a whole series instead of reading a book. I'm going to try desperately to not get bored enough to watch any new shows at all for any reason... that way I don't get sidetracked with anything new lol... we'll see how that works out.
Currently... my background noise is the latest episode of PLL... I don't even need to really watch the actual episode, I listen, and if there is sudden gasping or whatever, I just hit the rewind lol. I really need to turn it off and get to work on something productive... but I'm tired today. Thinking to much.  Yesterday I got to spend the day with Donnie, my son. My boy... He is so funny... has all the good qualities of his dad... maybe that's part of the reason I can't seem to shake the love I have for Adam... maybe... I don't know... when I hear Adam laugh a real honest genuine laugh... it makes my heart melt... and I'm gonna just stop there because I don't need to think about my feelings for him. ANYWAY-- Donnie and I played some Mario Party, it was fun... different than our normal games lol. And we watched some Wipe Out, we always get a kick outa that show. Then we played some Rummy and he totally whooped my butt... he's so smart! He is in band camp this week, he is playing the trumpet like his Uncle Jakey. I'm proud of him. He is enjoying it. I'm so excited for him!!
He's growing up so fast... I missed most of last year :(  I refuse to let that happen again. Adam and his home wrecker are supposedly moving out soon and hopefully we can get a regular schedule going for my visitation with Donnie. I need it on a regular schedule. I can't wait to be going to his band concerts!! YAY! Ugh, I can't wait to have myself on a regular schedule!! MAN! Getting up at the same time every day, get on my exercise bike regularly, eating meals on a regular schedule, going to sleep at the same time... ugh... can't wait. That is something I miss from living in Hustisford. I always had healthy food, healthy snacks, got on my bike every morning and every night, I lost like 20lbs in a month n a half... I need that schedule again. grr. I'll get there. I have faith!

Strange Brain

I keep having these crazy dreams and I wake up at like 3am with all these idea's for art projects but then I pass right back out and can't remember all of it in the morning. It's weird. I have all this ambition building up inside of me, I'm working towards freeing myself in order to focus on my reading and faith. But in the process of working towards this... it's like I'm opening up more of the artistic area of my brain. I remember learning that the more the brain is stimulated, the more the brain takes in. I have absolutely no idea whether or not that has anything to do with this... just crossed my mind so I jotted it down.
I'm doing this strange thing... I glance at something and for a split second I see the object outlined with pencil on white paper... it's strange I know... how do you think I feel?! And it's not just with new objects, I'm talking EVERYTHING... I just glanced up at the cat tower in my living room and saw it sketched on white paper. I have never heard of anything like this before. It creeps me out... especially when I look at other people and see THEM sketched... eeeeeven creepier... jussayin!
I know I have always had a bit of a creative side, not like some super crafty or super artsy type of person with really awesome talent, but I've always doodled, much like most other people. I love to paint, color, make crafty things, use recycled materials to make things, I've always enjoyed drawing cartoon characters, and I have a knack for putting my feelings onto paper using oil pastels. But, this... this is just crazy. It's like I want to draw absolutely everything I see. I feel this really strong urge to create something new. I don't know anything about sewing but I see patterns and I'm suddenly designing a dress in my head... and I don't even wear dresses! Well, rarely, not since I've gained weight anyway. I see a neat house and BOOM, I'm doodling a layout for a house. Of course, these doodles are just that... Doodles.
I have no idea what is going on with me. I'm creeped out yes, but I'm also enjoying it. I like creating new things. I have been writing more lately, trying to write every single day like I used to. I have been writing more poetry like I used to, short stories, blogging, and my prayer journal. I've been listening to more instrumental music and I often catch myself sitting very still trying to hear each instrument and the different tones and pitches... I've never been so... in tune with everything I see and hear... that's the part I am enjoying. I also chopped off my hair. just to try something new... I've never had a hair style like this before... ever... I need to touch it up a bit, but I'm loving it.
I really wish I could sew. I have so many idea's for clothing, and I have a lot of material! I also have some pillows and what not I want to put together. Ugh. This is the part where I wish I had stayed in Tennessee because than Mama Jean could've taught me. Or, someone. Maybe I can find someone from church to spend some time teaching me... oh that's a great idea!! I'm gonna send out an email blast about it, yessss... thanks brain lol. My brain is always on overdrive... geeeeeees... I'm just glad I'm a nicer person now because it would be bad if my brain was on overdrive while I was angry and hateful and insensitive... maybe that's WHY my brain is all ADD now... because I AAAAAM happy finally... oooh... that makes sense.... still creeped out by some of these things though... jussayin

Bye Bye Hair... Bye Bye..

I'm chopping my hair off. For a really good reason.

There are too many worldly things that I am attached to, one of them being my hair. So I am going to chop it all off.

I was told once, when I was 60lbs lighter, that "short fat girls shouldn't have short hair cus it makes 'em look fatter." screw you old man at the grocery store. BUT, I don't care anymore. I need to find ways to focus and one of them is going to be getting rid of all my hair. I have only told one person the entire reason, this is just the gist of it. I am excited!! Because I am no longer nervous or worried about things like this. I am going to get things done. I am going to get somewhere. I am going to move forward with all of my plans in life... with God holding onto me and guiding me... no more distractions.

SO... deciding on the cut... because I don't want to just chop it randomly and I really don't want to shave it... or look entirely like a boy. SO... I am somewhat punk. I guess. I don't really know what people would consider me. I just call it punk because that's what I'm drawn to and everything I like and would buy if I could afford, is considered punk. so... I want something punk ISH I guess. I don't know... maybe I will just start... randomly cutting it... I jsut don't know... sigh

Dreams

Do you know what YOUR dreams mean?
Have you ever used one of those dream dictionaries?
I tried it once or twice... didn't work out well for me... maybe I was doing it wrong haha, I don't know.

I have this issue... or thing... whatever. I have this thing about dreams. I rarely have a dream where there are people I actually know in it... but when I do see people I know in a dream, it's always intense and it always turns out to have something to do with my reality. Strange.
I'll give you an example. January. I had this horrible dream that "C" and "A" teamed up and buried me alive. I woke up suffocating and freaking out.. of course... Two weeks later, "A" completely threw our friendship out the window because of "C" and he ate it up because no one could occupy me anymore.       September 2012, right before my wedding anniversary. I had a horrible nightmare about my husband sleeping with his current (used to be my friend) and I busted them and they laughed in my face. just a few weeks later, he handed me divorce papers, and within a couple weeks, they were sleeping together again. Those are just 2 of the ones that stand out to me right now.
They don't happen very often. Last night I woke up sweating with a horrible feeling. I had a dream that I was at the races and "B" and "D" were there and I grabbed her by the hair and dragged her out  to the track and threw her in during a race. But I don't hate her anymore. I'm not even mad at her anymore. I don't get it... I don't think I would ever do something like that to her. And I don't foresee there being the opportunity either because I'm not planning on attending the races...

Another one that has never failed... is every time I have a sex dream. Every single one of them... well... the details don't always match the dream... but yea. I shouldn't talk about those anyhow.

Anyway. This one night, I was dreaming and I half woke up and could see everything around me and feel everything but felt like I was still in my dream... and I punched my ex in the arm three times... he claims it was the chest and that I was awake... lol... but whatever. I still crack up over that, I was still half dreaming, so I see his arm... I was dreaming. Sorry... makes for a good laugh anyway. I used to sleep walk when I was like 5 or 6. Apparently I traveled the neighborhood haha.
There are certain dreams that have been reoccurring my entire life. Nightmares too. Like this one about a certain person controlling me in grammar school and making me sit on the floor in front of his chair in the cafeteria and not being allowed to speak or look at anyone. I still have that one. Or this one about me falling off of the top of a semi-trailer while the semi was driving on the interstate... I physically feel that one when I'm waking up... oh gees... ugh... There are so many... it's crazy how our minds work in our sleep. I read somewhere that you often dream about what you have shoved in the back of your mind... but that's not usually the case for me. weird

Free Antique Furniture

Why don't people buy antique furniture anymore?

I personally think it is because they are lazy... which plays into another thing... people don't buy houses often. They tend to bounce from one apartment to another... which means a lot of moving... so they want lighter furniture to move... equaling out to LAZY.

No one cares about the fact that antique furniture is stronger, solid, REAL WOOD, beautiful, can be stripped and repainted over and over again beCAUSE it's real wood, or just stained even... they would prefer Walmart's lovely particle board that literally crumbles. I don't understand that.

Last summer a 20 year old couple came into the shop and were talking about a 1950's retro pecan colored bedroom set. They were like "oh we really need a bedroom set and this IS complete set, but ... $250 is an awful lot... why don't we just get a bed and dresser from Walmart..." I said "excuse me... not to be rude, but would you really rather spend more then $250 at Walmart on a bed and dresser made of particle board that will guarantee to fall apart in the next year or 2 over $250 on a COMPLETE set that is made of REAL wood and obviously will last a long time?" They turned and stared at the set with a look of complete realization and bought it 5 minutes later.

I mean... come on people...

Then on top of it I go into hobby stores and see new furniture painted to look old... and that neon painted distressed look is popular too... but it's NEW furniture. Made of particle board.... stupid. So stupid. We can't GIVE away some furniture. We just left a complete dinning room set behind at an auction because no one wanted it... even for free. Then we gave another person a complete dinning table with chairs, leaves, card cover for the table and leaves, plus a buffet that matched!! FREE... FURNITURE THAT WON'T JUST BREAK APART.... sold for $2 or completely FREE... often burned because no one wants it... funnier part... YOU CAN'T EVEN BUY FIREWOOD FOR $2! SICK

Our monthly Antique & Collectible Auction is held at the Jefferson County Fair Grounds, and we get a lot of people in there... it's been there for over 30 years... but no one buys furniture anymore. It is so sad to watch. If I had a truck I would fill storage units with free furniture left behind. So sad

An Instrumental Life

Lately I have found myself enjoying more instrumental music than any other type of music... It seems to have triggered my creative side a bit more than I am used to. NOT COMPLAINING... just recognizing.

I have been rockin' some Lindsey Stirling, Beats Antique, & 2cellos a LOT... and of course there's the lovely Carter Burwell and the Infamous Claude Debussy! I just love the intimacy of pure instrumental's... it shows passion beyond music its self. I often catch myself with my eyes closed and just deep inside the sounds of these beautiful instruments! I used to think that I had a very open mind especially with music, but recently I have found that I didn't... not before... but now... I feel I truly do have a completely open mind to all types of music. I can appreciate all types, even polka... which I used to despise.

I notice the instrumental music in movies more than I used to... I bet most people have no idea that what they are feeling during each movie is often triggered by an instrumental piece that they don't even notice is playing. I never used to notice.

Each moment in my life now I feel more than I ever did before... I know that this is God working in my heart. However, this music also plays a role... which God opened my eyes to by playing Lindsey Stirling on the Contemporary Christian station I play on Pandora...so Thank You Father, for opening my eyes and my heart to the instruments you have provided in every part of my life.
